Qualifications & Professional Experience

Siew has over a decade of experience as a clinical psychologist in both Australia and Singapore, across public and private healthcare. She completed her bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in psychology at The University of Melbourne under an Australian Government postgraduate scholarship.

Siew began her career at The Geelong Clinic, a specialist private psychiatric hospital in Australia. She was Program Manager of the Eating Disorders Program and provided therapy across a range of specialist inpatient and outpatient psychiatric services, including eating disorders, substance use, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and personality disorders. During this time, she also taught undergraduate psychology at The University of Melbourne.

After relocating to Singapore in 2016, Siew joined Changi General Hospital as a Senior Clinical Psychologist. She provided psychological assessment and therapy to both inpatients and outpatients experiencing a wide range of mental health and medical conditions. During this time, she also developed particular interests in community mental health and gender-affirming care.

Since entering private practice in 2020, Siew has worked with adults from diverse backgrounds, professions, and life experiences, including healthcare professionals, corporate executives, business owners, and people navigating demanding careers. Alongside therapy, she provides clinical supervision to psychologists, counsellors, and other mental health professionals.

Therapy Approach

What continues to fascinate Siew about psychology is that every person's story makes sense once it is understood in context. Rather than seeing symptoms or diagnoses in isolation, she enjoys helping clients connect the dots between their experiences, relationships, emotions, and patterns. Not to dwell on the past, but to create greater freedom in the present.

Siew believes therapy isn't just for people experiencing mental illness or crisis. It can also be a space to better understand yourself, navigate life's transitions, build healthier relationships, strengthen emotional resilience, and live more intentionally.

Depending on each person's needs and goals, she draws from a range of evidence-based approaches including Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Motivational Interviewing.

Together, you might explore how early experiences shaped current beliefs and patterns, make sense of difficult emotions, develop greater self-compassion, strengthen relationships, and build a life aligned with your values.

Personal Background

Siew was born and raised in Singapore and spent fifteen years living in Melbourne, Australia. Having built a life in another country herself, she understands many of the unique joys and challenges that come with living away from home. Melbourne also left her with an appreciation for early bedtimes, excellent coffee, and many of the values she still holds today.

After completing her psychology training, Siew fulfilled her childhood dream of becoming a qualified hairdresser, attaining a Certificate III in Hairdressing through the Australian Academy of Hairdressing. Hairdressing appealed to the same part of her that now loves therapy: conversations, creativity, and helping people feel a little more like themselves. She has styled friends and family for weddings and special occasions, and previously volunteered as a hairdresser at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne, providing haircuts and wig styling for patients undergoing cancer treatment.

Siew is a strong advocate for inclusion and diversity. After returning to Singapore, she volunteered as a counsellor with Oogachaga, a non-profit organisation supporting the LGBTQ+ community. She currently volunteers as a clinical supervisor with The Greenhouse, supporting practitioners working with people recovering from substance use, many of whom come from marginalised communities including people who are LGBTQ+, living with HIV, formerly incarcerated, or from racial minority backgrounds.

Siew loves animals. To her, they embody unconditional acceptance, quiet presence, and a way of being that asks nothing more than for us to show up as we are. She has volunteered with animal rescue and humanitarian organisations and often says that the dogs and horses she met along the way taught and healed her more than she ever helped them.

Outside the therapy room, Siew is a thoroughly ordinary human. She doesn't believe psychologists have life figured out, and doesn't think they should pretend to. She also has an unfortunate tendency to trip over nothing and spill tea on herself (and occasionally her dog), so perfection was never really on the cards. Siew has experienced the value of sitting on the other side of the therapy room. Her own therapy continues to shape both who she is and how she practises.
